Thank you for joining me on what will likely be our last trip of the season. I will try not to cry too much. I will just plan trips for next year and focus on all the new adventures to look forward to. It’s still quite chilly outside, but perhaps in a bit we can take a walk through the park. There are more campers here this weekend than I expected, but then, I’m sure they’re all trying to take in the last days of the season just like I am.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about our neighbor’s goats! We pulled in to our campsite last night and they were pretty active, it was hilarious. It’s still quiet right now so they must be sleeping in. I look forward to going over and meeting them today.

Things are picking up at work and for that I’m SO glad. Days will fly, weeks will fly, not that I want to rush through it all, but this is the beginning of our downtime, when all I want to do is hibernate through winter. Summer has only been gone a month and two days and I’d give anything to fast forward to spring. I do look forward to snowmobiling, but that’s entirely dependent on the weather. If we don’t get the snow, there goes that as well.

Would you like a warm up?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I just realized I missed yesterday’s FMS Photo A Day Challenge. 🙁 The theme was Stuff. That would have been an easy one! Rats. But today’s theme is Chocolate, and that will be easy since I brought my pumpkin full of Halloween treats to share around the fire.

The pumpkin in the above photos is not my original, but very similar. My pumpkin from trick or treating as a kid I left at home and needs to be fixed.  Stamped on the bottom is Emperial Plastics Co., Copyright 1968. I’m pretty sure it was my older brother’s before I inherited it.  At any rate, several years ago I got the bright idea to put a tealight in it as a decoration and ended up melting the black plastic handle right in half. I was horrified. But my MacGuyver husband has an idea on how to fix it and I’m sure it will look as good as new.

It looks like it’s going to be a bright, chilly fall day today. I can’t wait to get out and walk, though my hip is killing me and kept me up most of the night. Just need to get moving.

So how about you, my friend? What’s new in your world?

  1. Jenny and I have been going on a lot of outdoor camping adventures and have made some delicious and fun outdoor cooking with al dutch oven recipes. We are in Lava Hot Springs Idaho relaxing. It is a little hot springs town with a population of 307. It is beautiful here. There air is cool and the birds are active outside. We had a nice dinner last night and a few drinks. We are going to do some dutch oven cooking this morning. Living the dream

  2. A coworker just returned from his last camping trip of the season. It was chilly in the White Mountains last weekend, at least at night. Love the Monkees mug – I use a Beatles mug (or a stack of them on some weeks) for some of my coffee shares, but I did post a Monkees song on FB this week (Daily Nightly for its use of the synth). Have a great week!

    1. Hi Trent, thanks for stopping by! Those are our camping mugs – saving them for weekend coffee shares from the campsite. 🙂 We got to see the Monkees in Detroit several years ago..

    1. I’d love to better adapt to the cold weather, as long as I’m going to live here I have to deal with it! 🙂 Do you partake in winter sports?

  3. I am loving your “Monkees” mug! I spent most of my teen years spooning over Peter Tork. Hope you enjoy your last trip and sharing chocolate around the camp fire. Sounds like heaven to me!:)

    1. Thanks for stopping by! The goats were rather quiet, they were in a pen draped with sheets – they stayed quiet as long as they didn’t see any commotion.

  4. Well, the weekend is over here and Monday is rapidly slipping through my fingertips. For some reason, I decided to wash everything today and the washing machine has been chugging along and no doubt feels like hibernating. It almost sounds like a deranged musical instrument of sorts as it hums and chugs along.
Where did you go camping? My daughter went on a fishing camp with the cub scouts last weekend. I was going to tent it outdoors but it was raining and I was the only parent who booked in which would’ve meant I’d be camping alone as the kids and leaders were in the hall.
No goats at their camp and not many fish either but one kid caught a flounder which was big enough to eat. They’re such a weird looking fish.
Hope you have a great week and thanks for the coffee xx Rowena

    1. Hi Rowena! We camped at Bishop Lake, it’s a state park not far from home. Yes, camping in a tent in the rain is no fun. How exciting to pull in a fish that big! 🙂 Making memories at camp.. Thanks for stopping by!
