#WeekendCoffeeShare: Hello Again!

Good Morning, everyone, from this humid, balmy Saturday in Metro Detroit! It’s been a minute since my last coffee share (cough, two and a half years, cough) and I’d love to dive back in and see what everyone has been up to.

In my last post (blowing the dust off) I mentioned I was seeing my surgeon to get clearance to come back to work. I’m fully healed now and double bionic. People ask from time to time if I still have pain and it’s like having two brand new hips. The last one was the worst (prior to surgery) and I wouldn’t wish that pain on my worst enemy.

So yeah, back to work and a handful of projects later, here I am!  I’ve acquired a cat named Larry, and if we’re friends on Facebook, you’ve seen his shenanigans. He just turned a year old and is the most perceptive cat I’ve ever had. He’ll study on whatever you are doing, like a beagle. He watched my husband turn a doorknob and then tried to do it himself with his paws. I love my little buddy. He comes camping with us, too.

Last we spoke, I also mentioned the start of a new Silent Book Club chapter here in my town and I’m happy to say we are still going strong!  We meet at our local library in one of the activity rooms and share a glorious, quiet hour of reading.  It’s a small group though I’ve promoted it and promoted it, but as I’ve learned with lots of other events, a small group is just fine.

We’ve just returned from our two week trek out to South Dakota last Sunday so I’ll have lots to share on that front as well.  Today will be a high of 91 so I’m planning to get some pool time in too, around house work and a bit of work work.

Tomorrow I am excited to meet up with a paddle buddy and do some kayaking! I made a goal this year to paddle ten new lakes or rivers, and here we are on August 16th. I’ve got some catching up to do.  Hopefully the storms hold off.

Welp, I’ll be adding to this as I’m rebooting my blog, but I wanted to drop in, say hello and see what you’re all up to.  I look forward to stopping by your blogs and getting reacquainted.

Natalie, thank you, as always, for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share!

  1. It is wonderful to see an update from you. Your blog looks great! I recently started a new blog (with a similar name) since I want to write less work-related stuff and more about the things that inspire me on my free-time. I am not completely done with the design of the new blog, but I am happy that you found it through Natalie’s coffee share!
Your new cat is truly adorable. They can be so intelligent. What a personality. I once had a dog that learned to open doors very quickly just by looking at how the people around him did.
Have a great rest of your weekend. Kayaking sounds wonderful.

    • Great to hear from you too, Maria! I was happy to find your new blog on the coffee share! Thank you for the warm welcome back. <3 Hope you and your family are well and I look forward to catching up!

  3. A Silent book club is certainly different.. Well done for rebooting your blog. I took a blogging break for several years and it was tough to get back into the rhythm

    • Hi Carole! Thank you so much for stopping by! I love Silent Book Club – having a dedicated quiet hour to read is delightful. I find it so hard to carve out time otherwise.

  4. Hey Kathy, good to hear from you. I’ve been absent as well, not sure where my writing going (right now it’s infront of thick brick wall). My husband has 3 new hips and 2 new knees, shoulders are.next..a true bionic man,if only he looked like the 70s version of Lee Majors (lol)

    • Antoinette! So great to hear from you! I’m so happy to be back in touch with my coffee buds. Life just got crazy but I’ve missed these virtual meetups. I’m so grateful for modern medicine. I don’t know how people got through life before these types of options.

  5. Kathleen, Welcome back to Weekend Coffee Share! Glad to hear you’re fully healed from your surgery and are able to do the activities you enjoy again. I hope the weather is good for your kayaking.

    • Thank you Natalie! It’s great to be back.. 🙂 Looking forward to catching up!

  7. Welcome back! I love black cats, we had two, Porter and Parnell.
A silent book club would suit me.

    • Hi Jackie! Thank you! I had another black cat, Ebony, from 1991 – 2009. I call him Larry’s Great Uncle in the Sky and threaten him with Ebony when he misbehaves. LOL I love Silent Book Club. I can never carve out enough time to read.
