#WeekendCoffeeShare: Final Days of Spooky Season

#WeekendCoffeeShare: Final Days of Spooky Season

Good morning on this last week of October!  Where has it gone?  I swear just last week it was early September and I was getting out all my Halloween décor..  Time just flies from Labor Day to New Year’s Eve.

What a gorgeous sunny day today! We’ve had several of them, not common in Michigan this time of year.  Today is the anticipated Michigan vs Michigan State football game, up in East Lansing this evening. We’re really not football fans and have no plans to watch, but may the best team win. With this weather I’m sure the tailgating will be in full force.  Hopefully everyone behaves.

The workweek flew by and was relatively sane.  I’m still working on my icebreaker, which is my first Toastmasters introduction speech.  I did, however, prepare and volunteer to be the Ah Counter at this last Tuesdays meeting, which is someone who tracks the usage of filler words, such as “ah, um, well, so, er..”   Because of that I did not do a table topic which is where you’re given a question and then have to speak on it for up to 2 minutes.  Nothing like being put on the spot and having to ad lib but that is the whole point of the exercise.  Yep, and I forced myself to do this!  LOL

I hope to get out and hike for a bit today. I have yet to make my weekend To Do list so I’ll need to get it in gear here shortly.  I do have a fun event planned this evening, another witchy event called the Bewitching Broom.

This year for outdoor décor I had an idea to put colored strobe lights on the window sills. I’m tickled at how it turned out. I tried to get video but it was too dark. Picture them flashing.

Pumpkins were on sale BOGO, so hopefully this weekend we can get our carving done.  I always carve the bad side of the pumpkin so that after Halloween, I can turn them around and have Fall decor for a bit longer, before all the squirrels snarf them up.

Last night we watched Trick R Treat and today I treated today myself to a new scary movie blanket, which Larry, my cat has already claimed. What will I do when Halloween is over?  I know I’ll be keeping up SOME of the décor.  LOL

Tomorrow is my mom-in-law’s birthday and we have a field trip planned out to Rural King, one her favorites and then lunch at Culver’s.  I hope the weather is as nice as it is today. These two places are about and hour north of us, so I hope to be able to show her some nice fall colors as as we make the drive.

As we head into the colder months (I don’t know if I have SAD, but man is this time of year depressing) I was happy to find a post by someone asking about self care in the winter months.  There were some really good sounding ideas, nothing I didn’t already know about, but just hearing them sparked a bit of a “looking forward to” feeling.  I’m thinking on crafting and sharing a post that lists some of the things I look forward to doing this season.

Well, this gorgeous daylight is burning.  I’ll be on my way to soak up as much of it as I can.  I hope you all had a great week and thank you for sharing it with us over coffee!

Thank you Natalie, for hosting!

  1. I hope you did get an opportunity to go out for a hike today. Do you still have pretty fall colours? We mostly good yellow/orange colours this year, not so much red.
Winter self care is a good idea. I should take the advice 🙂
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

    • I did! I just got back.. It was so peaceful. I’d say we are at peak this week into next.. I LOVE the reds.. There are a few trees in my neighborhood that just GLOW. It’s so pretty. Today’s hike was mainly yellows. I’m looking forward to the self care post! I’ll write it up tonight when I return from my witchy party.

    • He is crazy smart. My sister thinks he was a human reincarnated as a cat. He watched my husband turn a door knob and then, I kid you not, took both paws and tried to turn the doorknob. He STUDIES everything you do.

I hope you enjoyed some time outside. It was lovely here yesterday, too, so we spent some time at the river, thoroughly enjoying the fresh air and sunshine!

    • I’m so happy with it, thank you! Last year I tried red sheer curtains in the windows but the light inside wasn’t enough.. Glad you got to get outside as well!

    • Thank you! I’m really happy with it! Usually I tape those battery power LED string lights around the window perimeter but the way these strobes flash turned out really cool!
