Weekend Coffee Share: Two Weeks Left in 2025!

Good Morning! Come on in on this CRAZY cold morning. It’s 11F out there right now. Sheesh. What can I get you? Coffee, tea, hot chocolate?  How was your week?

I cannot believe this year is already over. 2025 still sounds new, like we just flipped over to it on NYE 2024.  How the time flies. It really makes me think about things I want to get done, bucket list items I want to check off.  As a dear friend once said, quoting Gretchen Rubin, the days are long but the years are short.

That being said, I have an entire list of things to do, and I’m also thinking of a blog revamp. I like the format of this one, but I find it doesn’t render very well on phones.

I’ve had no motivation to decorate for Christmas other than a few prints I found at Krampusmrkt last weekend and our holiday tablecloth.  Honestly, tea, a blanket and a stack of books sounds so much more inviting than the normal holiday rushing around.  I did find some LED candles for the window that I put up (with scotch tape so Larry doesn’t knock them down). Our porch light is blinding in the below pic but you can kind of see them.

Speaking of Larry, I finally figured out how to lure him into his cat bed.  Remove the fluffy pad.  He apparently prefers something firmer, so a folded up towel did the trick. I swear I tried this before and he had no interest. Maybe I found the right towel.

I had a gathering scheduled for today that was cancelled due to illness. I had planned to make and bring Rosemary Garlic Yule bread. I may still make a loaf today as a trial run. Baking is pretty much all I’ve been in the mood to do, which is good and bad!  LOL  I had the strongest urge to make brownies last night so Bill and I sampled them warm out of the oven while we caught up on Dark Winds.

I hope you all stay as warm as Larry under a fuzzy blanket!  Some of you, at least! I know some of you are anticipating the summer solstice as we wait for the winter solstice!  I’ll be around shortly to catch up before I dive into my weekend To Do list.

I hope you all had a great week!

Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share!

  1. Tea, blanket and a stack of books sounds like my kind of Sunday afternoon in December. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.

    • Thank you Natalie! My apologies for the delay in responding – catching up with the blogosphere. I still haven’t really made the time for tea, books and a blanket. LOL

  2. I’m right there with you in preferring a cozy spot and a stack of books to the hustle and bustle of the season. I just want to enjoy my space and my people without all the pressure.
I’m so glad Larry has found his sweet spot. Cats are so funny about their preferences 🙂
I’m intrigued by your possible blog revamp and how you might mix it up! I always find it fun to mix it up a but but I’m also a creature of habit so I never shake it up too badly 😉
Hope your week is off to a great start!

    • Hi Melissa! I agree totally – I love seeing everyone but the holidays get overwhelming too. I still haven’t made the time to read but I keep buying books! LOL I need to do the blog thing today – I don’t know how many view my blog via there phones but probably enough! I’m happy too, I was so bummed when he would not sleep in his bed. I thought it was so cool when I bought it!

  3. I love to bake too and find it very comforting. Thankfully I can freeze most of the baked goods. Larry is so sweet. “Finding the right towel” made me smile. You are a great kitty mom. A combination of tea, blanket and books is certainly a huge part of my holiday. Enjoy!!

    • Hi Soma! My apologies for the delay in responding. I’ve been in the mood to bake this season, which is good and bad. LOL I only did the Rosemary Garlic Yule bread and also a Cranberry Orange Yule cake which turned out really well! I think those two will be yearly traditions.. Hoping to get some reading time in today.
