Good Morning on this balmy 35 degree Metro Detroit morning! Come on in and I’ll pour you something warm or cold. How are you?
The holidays were busy and festive and I’m again delinquent on posting. We survived the ice storm that went through yesterday and I was over the moon thankful to have worked from home. Tomorrow it will be 56 but rainy. Not a great day for a hike, which I’d have loved to fit in. I love snowy hikes but not rainy ones.
How was your holiday? I hope you had a Merry Christmas if you celebrate and a happy holiday otherwise if not. In addition to celebrating Christmas, I’ve enjoyed reading and learning about Yule this season and all the traditions that belong to it. I did some baking and made a Rosemary Garlic Yule bread for a friends gathering, using fresh rosemary from my plants! I also made a Cranberry Orange Yule cake for an office gathering, one for my neighbor and one to take for Christmas Day to my sister’s. I think those two will be a annual tradition. Thank you ChatGPT! LOL
You may have noticed I changed my blog theme! This one is called Blogmate, it’s similar to my old one, but renders better on mobile phones. I still have to tweak the Subscribe button, but I’m happy with it overall so far. I like that the background and button colors can be changed, I may update them with the seasons. Enjoy the red and green for now! I toned it down a bit so it wasn’t so hard on the eyes. I’d love any feedback that you have!
There was a Yule cat sighting as I was packing gifts of Christmas candy. I didn’t bake cookies to give as gifts this year. Unfortunately, lots of the festivities came together at the last minute. So I bought bags and bags of Christmas candy and made treat bags for friends and relatives.

Larry got a Christmas card from his Aunt Rose.

Even though he’s a butt sometimes, Santa was good to him. He received a crinkly play tunnel and a fishbowl with a floating plastic turtle and a fish that flips it’s fin to swim around and blinks red. Somehow, he’s managed to scoop the fish out and now we can’t find it anywhere.
Overall, I think Larry had a good Christmas. He was great with our family that came Christmas Eve for dinner and after a full day, he settled into his carrier that we call his apartment next to the tree.

I CANNOT believe it is NYE in just a few days. Whatever we do will be low key as our party days are long behind us. We’re not big on resolutions but I do like to review my year and try and do some planning for the next. Time is flying and I want to accomplish experience as much as I can while I’m here.
Our next coffee meetup will be January 3rd! Thank you so much to Natalie for hosting our Weekend Coffee Share! Head over to her blog as I understand the links to other shares will be in the comments on her site in the new year.

Have a safe and happy New Year and thank you all for visiting my corner of the blogosphere!

I did a double take on your temperature…of course 35F not 35C….
I am exactly like you – where did 2025 go?
Regarding the green background – some readers might have problems with it especially with the red as well. I personally don’t but it might not work for colour blind people – but you better ask them and not me!
Ah, good point on the color blindness.. I ran it through a test site and checked all the filters.. It appears that there is still enough contrast where someone with color blindness can still decipher the buttons.. I used https://www.toptal.com/designers/colorfilter. Thank you for the reminder and Happy New Year! I’ll also remember to specify F and not C! 🙂
Your Yule bread and cake sound yummy. I hope you have a wonderful NYE and best wishes for 2026.
