#SundayPaddle: Sylvan Coven Witches Paddle

For this Sunday Paddle, we are going back to September 19th for the Sylvan Coven Witches Paddle with Luna Moon SUP Yoga!  When I first saw this event on Facebook, I immediate bought my ticket.  I’ve seen these events in the past and thought it looked like the most fun and hilarious thing.  And it was.

We launched at Ferndale Park, the same place on Sylvan Lake as the SUP yoga event a week or so prior.  Just a bunch of witches inflating their boards.

I was absolutely delighted to meet Muffin, a gorgeous black kitty, who, yes, came along with her mom on the paddle!

There were lots of cool decorations.  I failed to get a pic of my own board, but I had three glow in the dark skeletons sitting on the front, on top of my life vest.

There was also a tarot reader on site! Unfortunately she was packing up by the time I got back and had my board deflated and loaded into my car.

And then we were off!  I had on my hat and cape, and carefully tucked my cape into my shorts to mount my board.   Once I was up, I pulled out my cape and it fluttered in the wind.

We paddled through the canal and under Pontiac Lake Rd.  It was a gorgeous evening with lots of folks out of their docks and at the boat club.   They all got quite the kick out of seeing about 30 witches on paddle boards. Just about everyone had their phones out getting pics and probably video.  Too funny.

Our amazing witchy hostess, Misty, from Luna Moon SUP!

Yours truly pictured below.  I was terrified of dropping a phone or camera into the water, so I brought my GoPro.  One of the accessories I have for it is called the Handler. It’s a handle about 8 inches long or so that the GoPro clips to.  The GoPro itself is water proof and the Handler is foam, so if dropped, it floats.  All the pics I took on the water were actually video I took with the GoPro, then I went and pulled still shots later. It worked wonderfully.  In the pic above, Misty is taking a pic of me with her GoPro attached to her paddle.

SUCH fun.

Yes, Miss Muffin did AMAZING!   You can follow her adventures on Instagram!

Once off the lake, we visited by the launch over refreshments and a cool fog machine.  On my walk to the restroom and got this pic of this tree in the twilight.

What fun. If you paddle and have a chance to do this, definitely go!

  1. What a delightful way to spend a day! If only I didn’t live in the high desert and didn’t paddle… 😉 I’m so glad you attended this event!
