#SundayPaddle: SUP Yoga!

#SundayPaddle: SUP Yoga!

I recently found a SUP Yoga company on Facebook, Luna Moon SUP Yoga and was delighted to find out there was a yoga class scheduled for today! With the forecast being 84 and sunny, I could not WAIT to go and check this out.

We gathered by the docks on Sylvan Lake and one by one, got on a board and paddled out to the pod that was anchored in the water.

Each board hooks to the floating pod in the middle with carabiner hooks so we don’t float away during class.

I don’t have pics of us doing our poses, as I was afraid I’d drop my phone in the water.  But what fun.  I’m new to yoga as well, so it was neat to learn each pose as I struggled to stay balanced.  The water on Sylvan Lake was crystal clear and cool, and we were in about three feet of water.

About mid-way through the session, we did the happy baby pose which made me laugh inwardly, thinking of the Duck Dynasty scene.  “What in the world has happened to my boy?”  🙂

After class there was another excursion I signed up for, where we paddled out along the shoreline for a while.  We all enjoyed great conversation and an easy paddle, but when we turned around, we were paddling into the wind a bit.

I had a ball.  I’m happy to report I stayed upright and did not fall in during class or the after paddle. This will sure make saying goodbye to summer tougher.  However, I was super excited to learn Luna Moon holds classes during the winter in the pool at a local high school. I’m loving the idea of being able to practice over the winter and become a stronger paddler next season.

Happy girl!
