On Saturday, November 1st I attended Ypsilanti’s All Hallow’s Illumination at Frog Island Park. All I knew is it was from 6pm – 9pm, there would be pumpkins involved, vendor tents and I’d get to wear my costume one last time before the season was over.
I did not get there early so even though there is decent parking space, it was jammed. I followed the car ahead of me out the other end of the lot and they turned onto a side street. Through the trees I could see the lights from the park and I knew I was close. I decided to park and walk, and ended up parking across from the most amazing lit up house. Their tree was already a brilliant orange, and the orange lights they set up enhanced it. Of all the Halloween decor, I swear that illuminated trees are truly the most magical, IMHO.

Other people had parked on this same street and when I watched them walk from their car, I discovered the opening in the fence. Hehehe. I’ll remember this street, Oak St., for future events.

Across the railroad tracks, parking lot and down a flight of steps into the park, I found the festivities.

Rows and rows of glowing jack o’lanterns lit up the evening, a bit cold, but dry. The moon peeked through the clouds. There were a good number of people in costume.

About 13 vendor tents were set up along the paved track.

The park sits on the Huron river, and I saw a bridge at the far end. Decided to go for a walk.

I did not know Ypsilanti has a tridge over the Huron river!

Brrr.. I was glad I came out, this was something new and different to see.. But the chilly air was seeping through my cape so I decided to call it.
Ypsilanti has some fun things going on, I look forward to future adventures.

They did a great job with the pumpkins. That does look like a fun evening!
