Good Morning on this gorgeous fall day here in Onsted, MI.  We quickly packed up this week for a last minute camping trip with my sister and inlaws. The weekend is supposed to be very nice – 70s and clear, the perfect backdrop for turning fall foliage.

The camp looks to be about half full this weekend, with next weekend being Hayes Haunt, a very cool Halloween weekend. I don’t know what fits together better than camping and Halloween! Okay, maybe chocolate and peanut butter.

I hope to get in a kayak trip which will likely be my last of the season. I’ve never kayaked here at Hayes State Park, they have several nice lakes – Wamplers, an all-sports lake (I think) and Round Lake which is a smaller, no wake fishing lake. I captured several outings on my GoPro this summer, with the mount that clips to my life jacket. Come on sun and warm it up!  I hope the water isn’t too cold.

We loaded up with wood from Frank’s Firewood before we left, and just so you know, a quarter cord fits in the back of an Explorer. 😊

With plenty of firewood, I’m going to attempt a new Camp Cooking recipe – Skillet Snicker Apples! Wish me luck. I may start the fire early and hang out here, we’ll see how badly my hip screams at me today.

So what’s on tap for you this weekend? I hope it’s just as nice where you are.  Enjoy fall, it goes almost as fast as summer.
