The last day of 2017 has arrived in its typical Michigan winter fashion, gloomy. Come on in for a cup of coffee or tea. How have you been, did you survive the holiday?

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that we’ve been having a ball with our new toys from Christmas. I’ve been trying everything under the sun in my new air fryer, or at least it feels that way. We’ve made chicken strips, cheese sticks, pork chops, quesadillas and roasted chickpeas! Sweet potato fries are cooking as I type this!

I’m also cooking chicken in my new wifi crockpot that I turned on with my phone. Later I need to run out so I will attempt to turn it off and on remotely. Hehehe..

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I also printed wirelessly (woohoo!) my goals for 2018 which I have displayed prominently in my office. I still do this every year, even if I lose sight in the coming weeks/months. When I do, I feel as if I at least tried planning my route for the coming year, even if I wander off the path. You can always find your way back, right?  To me, the only thing worse than failing to meet a goal is knowing I didn’t do all I could.  So I set up some photography, blogging and professional goals for the year. Keeping the momentum going is always a challenge.

Which brings me to What’s Brewing?, an effort put together by some artsy friends and I, to continue to inspire and motivate each other in our work, whatever medium that may be. (We almost called it Coffee and a Kick in the Pants.) We share in our Facebook group and try to meet up periodically IRL, but the coffee grew cold in 2017 and we lost touch. I’m hoping to plug the percolator back in and start pouring warmups here soon.

I’m happy to report that I completed my GoodReads reading challenge with one book ahead! I also had the pleasure of adding a few more to my collection via a B&N gift card and snagged this one that was on sale on Amazon..

I think I’ve also figured out how to keep my tablet going for the time being. I have an old Motorola Xoom (Android) circa 2009 that I bought refurbished at the time. It’s old, and slow. I now use it only for an e-reader, and removed all the unnecessary apps and photos. But still, every time I power it up, I have to wait FOREVER for all the apps to update and Amazon Kindle keeps telling me repeatedly it wasn’t responding, would I like to wait or close? (OMG pulling hair out)

I now leave it on all the time, connected to my wifi network. When the battery gets low, I plug it in, but I never turn it off, so the updates can come whenever that want. It’s worked very well so far. Perhaps I can get a bit more life out of it this way.

Aaaand…. Ding!  Fries are done! I am in LOVE with this thing!  Feel like brunch?

Thanks for stopping by and have a SAFE and AWESOME New Year!
May 2018 be all you want it to be.

    1. It was pretty cool! Especially if you want to cook something on high for a while and then turn it down to low while still at work.. 🙂
