As I write this, Halloween 2016 has come to a close and the goblins have all gone home. It’s been a fabulous Halloween season and October has held many fun weekends.

This year I was super excited to be able to score tickets to Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village. I’ve tried for several years to go, only to find tickets sold out well before Halloween. Saturday, October 30th was a cloudy, high 40s evening, perfect for our walk though the grounds all aglow with Halloween awesomeness.

We entered the gates and were offered treat bags.  I replied that we didn’t have kids, only to be told, “You get them anyway!” Seriously? 30 years later and I get to trick or treat again?  Sweet!

So we followed the pumpkin lit path that led us all through the village, past scenes and trick or treat stations. The first stop was the grim reaper.

Grim Reaper, fire

He came right up to the fence and sharpened his scythe, sparks flying.  Hehehe.

From here on out, it was tough to pick a favorite moment. The whole evening had the classic, old-fashioned Halloween feel, the way it should be. Here are several shots from the evening.

We finished out the night watching Ichabod Crane being chased by the headless horseman. By now, my SD card was full and I kept having to spin through and delete photos in order to keep going.

The walk back to our car seemed endless, and my creaky hips appreciated being off my feet for the ride home, (turn up the heat!) but I’d do in again in a minute. Really a fun time. If you’ve never been, keep it in mind for mid to late September to check for tickets.  You won’t be disappointed!

Happy Halloween!
